*magazines (prop wont use them but take them incase)
*nappys and cotton wool

don't forget to pack a 2 hats for baby. 1 for after he/she is born and 1 for the journey home
References :
just what you need to bring him/her home in. The hospital will supply all you need while there.
References :
Lots and lots of bibs, youll be surprised at how many times they need changing, also choccy's for yourself and magazines.
References :
A pacifier (if you want one), powder (if you want), plenty of receiving blankets, burp rags, lots of comfortable clothing for baby, an outfit for you (you will probably still fit into your maternity clothes), a boppy pillow (if you plan on breastfeeding), and one really nice warm blanket for baby. Everything else, the hospital provides.

Just pack what you will need for on the way home… bibs, bottle and formula (if you will use it) diapers and wipies, obviously. A good magazine for yourself while you are in the hossy.

That's all the baby need's really. You dont need alot to start off with, most of the stuff you need to take in is for yourself. Oh yeh remember a blanket for the baby's journey home and scratch mittens. Good luck!
Oh yeh dont take in dummie's, I was going to but I heard you cant sterilise them so there's no point.
References :
Sanitary towels and big ones at that. Breast pads for those leaky nipples. Hat, socks, clothes, coat, vests, bibs.

Try cardigans and blankets?shawl they're so much nicer than hospital issues, cotton wool balls you never seem to get enough from them. dont forget the car seat as baby cant come home without one. always pack extra incase of change of mind or even baby being sick. good luck

Night dresses, dressing gown, knickers, sanitary towels, breast pads, nursing bra, baby grows, vests, hats, blanket, nappies, wipes.

Mummy of 3
Since you will proabaly be coming straight home you only need the outfit, onesie, hat, blankets depending on how cold it is, a carseat in the car, socks if the outfit don't have feet, a couple diapers, maybe a pacifier, a small bottle of formula if you are using it, that's about it, really.

Have 2 kids.
This is a hard one, it really depends how long you are going to be in ! I would say a whole pack of first size nappies, some cotton wool, about 5 body suits and 5 sleepsuits, a going home outfit and a coat/ snowsuit, a couple of blankets, socks, hats. Thats about it really, it may be worth packing a couple of dummies (pacifiers) even if you dont plan to use them, I didnt and my baby wouldnt sleep without sucking something and this made my nipples very sore !!!! I would also take some baby shampoo as my daughter had lots of hair, and after birth it can smell a bit ! Hope this helps

I found it very confusing too - I ended up in hospital for three days and had to send hubby home for more clothing and nappies.
Clothing quantity depends how long you are going to be in hospital for, but you'll need at least one spare because chances are whatever you put on baby will end up messy from either top or bottom end.
For baby.
Two each sleepsuit and vests.
1 pair Scratch mits (little fingernails are very sharp).
1 hat (optional - but good idea as part of coming home outfit)
1 Pack nappies.
Baby wipes and/or cotton wool.
Blanket(s) for coming home.
Spit cloth / muslin squares.
If bottle feeding, bibs, bottles and formula.
For you
Several pairs of pants.
Maternity sanitary towels.
Maternity bra - even if you are planning on bottle feeding.
Bra pads - as with bra.
Soothing nipple cream.
Towel, wash kit, hair brush.
Something to hold/tie your hair back with
Night clothes, dressing gown and slippers.
Going home clothes.
TENS machine - if using one.
For labour and on the postnatal ward.
Reading material - for you/birthing partner.
Something to drink, snacks, biscuits etc.
You don't need a car seat until the day you go home and most of all don't forget a camera and spare batteries.
Good luck and hope this helps.

1st born son 19th August 2007
I recently had a boy… the hospital gave me everything. They also provided all his clothing while we were over night there. They gave diapers, formula, clothing, hats, do not worry about a thing. Bring appropriate weather clothing for the trip home, the car seat for them to examine and make sure to pack some different size socks. I packed an outfit for my son and ended up having to send someone after premie clothing because he was much smaller than anticipated. Good Luck!

Shampoo, deodorant, tooth brush, toothpaste, a brush, hair tie, your brand of overnight pads (the hospital ones suck!) Comfy clothes to wear home, flip flops or slippers., an outfit to bring the baby home in and a blanket and hat. Nursing pads. The hospital provided me with everything else.Good luck!

As your question asks for the baby i would suggest the following-
Apart from sleepsuits, vests, coming home outfit, nappies. Make sure you pack enough of the above items. Remember to pack a camera to capture your little one's first hours. Babies dont really need that much in theire first few days as long as they have the essentials. You might prefer to take a few of your own blankets along for your little one to use rather than the hospital ones as they can be washed out and quite rough to the touch. Pack plastic bags for the dirty stuff to be packed up in and hopefully someone can take that from the hospital for you[your partner, friend, mum]. I took birth announcement cards in too and enjoyed filling these in while i had the chance. Bibs/muslin squares are a good idea and yes you will go through plenty. Remember you will need a car seat when you leave the hospital but thats not something you have to take in with you.
Tips for you too - change for the payphone, drinks and snacks for befor, during, and after the birth. A camera as i mentioned befor. Magazines/book believe me newborn babys sleep a lot in the 1st few days-enjoy it!-
