and do you have different bags for different carrying positions etc. ?
i’m talking about being able to at least carry one nappy, jar of food, bib, muslin, slim pack of wipes, bottle and powder.
sorry i should have made myself clearer. i mean when you're carrying your baby in a sling or baby bjorn or whatever.
I will be getting a backpack type thing for my next baby. I had a super cute diaper bag with one strap and I HATED it. It wouldnt stay on my shoulder when i would carry my son and then it would through off my balance let alone shift where all the weight of the bag and my son were. Get something that will stay on your back or shoulder. Thats my advice

I have seen many lists in books and they all differ. The hospital provides nappies and sleepsuits for the baby. I need to make my bag as light as possible as I have to travel by boat. Can someone give me a list of the basic things I will need for a 4 or 5 night stay.
I'm staying longer as I live on a small Greek island and have to travel to another island to give birth, they keep you in a few days to make sure mother and baby are OK as the journey back is quite long and there is no decent maternity clinic where I live. They definitely provide sleepsuits and nappies etc.., I hope the nappies are diamond studded, they are charging us enough!!!!
i would take the following
for baby:
vests x 5
hat x 1
scratch mits x2
sleep suit / baby grow x 5
pack of newborn nappys x 1
dummy / soother x 2
bibs x 5
coming home out fit x 1
socks if applicable
for you:
banana for energy during labour
small hand held fan
hair band or hair clips
small water sprey to keep u cool
book / magazine
change for telephone- to ring relatives etc
all these things can be given to someone else when u leave so u dont have to carry them home
thick / night time sanitry towels x 1 pack
underwear x 5 or more
nighty x 2 or 3
dressing gown or cardie x 1
slippers / flip flops
wash kit tooth brush hair brush etc
clothes to wear home (prob your early maternity clothes, as i descovered after i had my son, you dont fit back into your normal clothes STRAIGHT away lol ha ha
if your husband is coming to collect you on the day you leave, make him a list of things to bring, i.e baby's coming home outfit, blanket /shawl, car seat, or pram
hope this helps

I am pregnant, and my husband and I decided not to find out the gender - we wanted it to be a surprise. Of course, it makes it even more difficult. I wondered if Luke, my husband, would go for Birkin. Then I could get a Birkin to be his nappy bag. Or maybe Unawatuna. I am pretty much worked out that we conceived it when we were staying at this resort at Sri Lanka, called Unawatuna. Miss Unawatuna Bamboo-tree Brandon. But I'm not sure what Mum would say. Then I thought "Aspen". I told Luke's mother (she is really a cow, she abandoned him when he was little), that it will be Pomegranate or Armageddon, but it's more to annoy her. Or maybe Tallulah-Phoebe? What should I do?
I think that you can stick with all of these, and if you can't decide, wait for the baby. You may just pick the one out of those that suits him or her the most.

I don’t even know what I need! I am 20 weeks now, I live in the aussie outback so no ‘actual’ shopping for me, it has to be online only until 4 weeks before my due date when I have to relocate to the city. I am thinking when I am 36 weeks pregnant I doubt I will want to do much shopping especially since I have my 2 and a half year old. So when should I finish up my shopping? And what else should I buy besides these things (which I already have):
Clothes
Nappies
Cot and mattress
Nappy bag
One of those co-sleeping bed things
Toys
Oh yep, sorry I forgot to add the car seat to the list of things I already have.
lots of diapers
car seat
stroller
baby moniter
high chair
play mats/gyms
baby but cream
baby lotion
lots of baby shampo
diaper bags
baby gate
pacifiers

The yojiki baby swagbag is a diaper bag/ nappy bag with a difference. It is easy to unfasten. Just unclip the two buckles and the mattress unravels.
Perfect to line public change tables. Makes a soft portable playmat, and is great for tummy time!
Take it on a picnic, your next holiday or to the beach. You can even use it to pad the seat of a shopping trolley.
Keep it in your car to make nappy changes a breeze!
